Part 1 - (Engineering Challenges) - 6th Grade - 1 Quarter
This is a hands-on project based course where students will learn about the scientific design and make process. Students will actively develop essential 21st century skills (collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking) through guided independent problem solving and innovation using a variety of tools. Students will be applying critical math and science skills to solve problems by researching, designing, building, testing and evaluating possible solutions.
Part 2 - (Digital Design) - 6th Grade - 1 Quarter
This is a course that will focus on developing foundation skills in digital design. There will be an introduction to both 2D and 3D design software. Students will be using 6th and 7th grade math skills along with artistic principles to create and modify designs. The primary objective of this course is that students will be learning skills that will allow them to be more creative contributors to the digital world, and be able to make tangible things using digital design skills. **Students do not need to attend the courses in any particular order.
